Effective Hair Care In Winter

Winter is that time of the year when your hair needs more attention than usual. Apart from a dry and itchy scalp, people also suffer from dull and lifeless hair during this season. Also dandruff is one of the most persistent problems you face at this time. In a bid to help you overcome these issues, we suggest a few easy tips:

  • It is advisable to trim your hair during this season to avoid split ends which are known to damage hair shafts.

  • Hair spa and deep conditioning masks done in a span of 7 to 10 days help retain the moisture in the hair besides increasing blood circulation below the scalp.

  • Avoid being in direct contact with cold wind as they tend to make the hair rough.

Olive / Almond Oil Massage therapies
  • Anti-hairfall oil massage therapies done by professionals help reduce dryness and prevent hairfall. Olive oil treatments also work wonders for your damaged hair. Warm two tea-spoons of olive oil or almond oil and apply it on your scalp. Massage and apply it thoroughly. This will help the oil infiltrate and will also give your hair shine, getting rid of dryness, breakage and frizz in this cold season.

  • Colored hair requires more attention during this season. Avoid detergent based shampoos.

Hair Tangles
  • Avoid using shampoo too often in the winter season.

  • Brush your hair and remove all the tangles. Massage honey over your roots and hair. Cover up with a shower cap or drape a towel over your head. Keep it this way for 30 minutes before you wash it off with lukewarm water. The honey will give shine as well as bounce to your hair.

Some particular hair issues of winter season with their solutions:

Dandruff: Don’t use a hair blow dryer for few months as it makes your scalp dry. Make a hot coconut oil and lemon juice mixture and apply it to your dry scalp. Keep it overnight and shampoo in the morning. Do it once a week.

Static and Frizzy Hair: Use a vented brush with a mix of plastic and boar bristles to comb your hair. While in shower, wash hair with lukewarm water and not very hot water and use leave-in conditioner every time after shampooing.

Split Ends: Avoid the use of rubber bands to tie your hair.

Hair Breakage: Avoid being in direct contact with cold winds.

Parched strands: Massage oil into your scalp and keep it overnight by wearing a shower cap over your head. Shampoo your hair in the morning.
